The exhibition day in late June was a roaring success! The sun came out, the garden looked amazing and there was a great turnout of friends, family, neighbours, interested fellow artists and even a retired bishop. A highlight for me were two larger canvases with scenes from Ascot painted in acrylic. I also produced a cartoon for the CEO of KIMS Hospital in Kent.
Once the dust had settled I was able to send a donation of £2200 to Dementia UK. Thanks to everyone who supported the venture.
So what next? A family holiday to the Balearic Islands. I will take a sketch book but not much else art-wise. Later in the year I am off to Portugal to paint and hopefully learn plenty from the tutor, Soraya French. After Christmas I am spending two weeks in Barbados. Previously I have sketched on the beach but I may take more kit and spend a more studied period painting in the shade.
Another venture is to set up an after-work Art Club for staff at KIMS Hospital. We will kick off in late September with a group of mixed ability and see how it develops.
Without doubt a busy 6 months is in store!
