Boat trip cancelled

There have been many named storms hitting the UK recently. I imagined planning a boat trip while on holiday – only to have it cancelled by bad weather.

Acrylic 58 x 41 cm £200

Breaking wave

Waveforms are constantly moving. Using an acrylic pour technique I attempted to capture some of that movement.

Poured Acrylic. 58 x 41 cm. £100

Early morning calm

Rowers on any river on a misty morning seem so tranquil and effortless. This painting was inspired by rowers on the Thames. The mountains are a fiction!

Watercolour. 41 x 33 cm. £120

Kite flying at Seasalter

The beach at Seasalter in Kent is often breezy and idea for kite flying. I often walk along the shingle with my grandchildren and watch the kites.

Acrylic. 82 x 66 cm. £150

Old Harry Rocks

This was painted from a photograph published in Leisure Painter magazine. It was a technical exercise using alcohol to wet the pastels; I used vodka to great effect.

 Pastel. 51 x 43 cm. £150

Performance

Musicians are always fascinating to draw and paint. Here I have combined a series of loose sketches to create part of an ensemble with their conductor. The picture combines black ink and pastel.

Pastel & Ink. 58 x 51 cm. £150

Ploughed field after a storm

In Norfolk during the winter a walk often takes one alongside a muddy field. This conjures up many walks my wife and I took over many years arounfd the footpaths of North Norfolk.

Watercolour. 51 x 41 cm. £150

Spring Rain

An imaginary scene as the rain clears during a countyside walk in Norfolk

Watercolour. 51 x 51 cm. £120

Walking at Cley, Norfolk

The shingle beaches are reached via winding, raised pathways above the Cley marshes. These paths are popular with bird watchers and dog walkers. I often walk there when at my Norfolk home.

Acrylic. 82 x 57 cm. £150

Waveform 1

Here I used textures, such as crumpled tissue paper and poured acrylic paint, to summon up the energy of tumbling waves, which I often watch on the Eastern coast when on holiday in Barbados.

Poured Acrylic & Collage. 51 x 43 cm. £150

River Brisbane

This acrylic drawing on a 90cm x 60cm canvas tries to capture a scene from the river Brisbane , Australia. Valued at £250 it was damaged in transit and is currently undergoing repair.

Acrylic. 90 x 60cm. £250

Felons Brewing Co.

This black and white acrylic drawing is 90cm x 60cm on canvas. It was one of two sent to Australia .It was valued at £250 but damaged in transit.

Acrylic. 90 x 60cm. £250

Look there’s the sea

Who hasn’t been on holiday and shouted ‘ I can see the sea!’ wandering down a path in Dorset I suddenly found this scene.

Watercolour. 46 x 41 cm. £150

Tango

The tango always seems such a dramatic dance. I imagined two dancers demonstrating their technique while members of their dance studio watched on.

Acrylic. 69 x 51 cm. – £150

View from Medway Yacht Club

The clubhouse looks across the river Medway to St. mary’s island. The view is seen through a jumble of yacht masts  and the moon reflects on the cold October water while the yachts are out of the water and covered for the winter.

Acrylic. 53 x 46cm. £150

Story Bridge, Brisbane

The lights on the bridge are vivid against the night sky. This work was based on a photograph taken in January 2024 on holiday.

A$ size. Pastel. £100
