News – May 2017

It seems a long time since I wrote any news for this site! During the summer of 2016 I held an exhibition at home which raised £1,750 for my nominated charity, PAPYRUS (Prevention of Young Suicide).

After the exhibition I went to the Amalfi coast painting and sketching with a group of like-minded people and a tutor. I managed to produce some good work but, to my shame, I have not put the painting into frames yet. In the spring of this year I had a holiday in Australia and Fiji. The Fijian sunsets were amazing and I have a collection of sketches and photographs which are soon to be reinterpreted as artwork. Later this year I will be painting in Croatia, which will be an exciting adventure. With any luck I may be sketching in New Zealand next year.

The art group which I facilitate is growing from strength to strength and now has a new home in an artist’s studio in Chatham. It has been named by the members as RAG (Ron’s art group) which is flattering! We are always looking for new members; anyone interested can enquire via this website.

Following a successful weekend away in Dorset last summer we have decided to paint locally around Kent for our weekend painting ‘en plein air’ this summer.
