Ron Hoile MS, FRCS

Welcome to my web site. I am a retired surgeon and have been painting as an amateur, part-time artist for 21 years.  I began drawing and painting in 2001, at the age of 57. I have had many tutors including Nick Tidnam PRBA, Roger Jones, Christine Russell, Mitch Waite, Brian Steventon, Paul Weaver, David Paskett, Paul Taylor and Tony Allain. Art helps me relax and provides a means to raise money for charity by selling paintings or donating them to raffles etc.. I am slowly realising that my favourite media are acrylic paints and pastels.

In the last 21 years I have donated a total of over £35,000 to the following organisations:

  • The Royal College of Surgeons of England
  • RNLI Sheringham Lifeboat (The Shanty Man)
  • The Kent Air Ambulance Trust
  • An orphanage in Sri Lanka (Tsunami victims)
  • Victims of the Kashmir Earthquake
  • Two schools in Kent and Sussex teaching deaf and blind children
  • Schools in South Africa (HIV +ve kids)
  • Rochester Cathedral Restoration
  • Army Benevolent Fund – The Soldiers Charity
  • International Nepal Fellowship
  • The Prostate Cancer Charity
  • The Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust
  • Leukaemia Care
  • BREAK
  • PAPYRUS
  • Dementia UK
  • Horatios Garden
  • Scaramouche Sailing Trust
